Decía alguien por ahí que, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en otras zonas, los refugios de los Picos de Europa se caracterizan por estar todos en ubicaciones espectaculares. Y decía bien. El de Cabrones está a resguardo de las cumbres más altas de Picos y constituye la base normal para ascenderlas. La llegada clásica desde el Cares tras superar casi 1800 m. de desnivel la definió con precisión un amigo: "emocionante". En esta ocasión llegamos en descenso, pero el sitio sigue siendo un lujo. Que permite además el clásico acercamiento a la Collada del Agua para disfrutar de espectaculares vistas de Peña Santa y el resto del macizo Occidental, con hermosos atardeceres.
